What is Virtual College?
Virtual College is one of the methods by which the Video Production Program is taught at Northcentral Technical College. All Video Production classes may be taken completely ONLINE through NTC's Virtual College. The Virtual College is a flexible learning option that allows self-motivated students the opportunity to complete their Associate Degree on their own schedule and at their own pace, from anywhere with an Internet connection.
Students navigate classes through an online learning client called Canvas. Through Canvas, students are presented with articles, videos, lectures, audio documents, textbooks readings, quizzes, tests and assignments. Students interact and share assignments with one another and their instructor through the online Discussion Board and scheduled teleconferencing sessions. Students may choose to interact with and ask questions of their instructor through email, the Discussion Board, in-person meetings or through live chat and video conferencing services provided by Virtual College.
The Virtual College is a non-traditional learning experience in that there is no face-to-face lecture component to classes, however, the same rigorous academic content is covered through recorded lectures, online articles, textbook readings, tutorial videos, and audio and video examples/demonstrations. Student interaction is facilitated through the online Discussion Board and through Virtual Meetings. Student work is evaluated in the same way as traditional classes via quizzes, tests, assignments and project submissions – but rather than hand in physical assignments, they are submitted electronically.
To participate in Video Production through Virtual College, students must have access to a professional camera, microphone, computer and Adobe CC software. Detailed information on equipment and technology needs is provided upon registration.
